I'm thinking of QuickBooks but I also know that there is PeachTree and something from Microsoft.

Quickbooks is great! It is flexible with making postdated checks for accounts payable without any troubles from year end cut off dates. Also, it is easy to find a bookkeeper to manage it if needed. Peachtree is Quickbooks, I believe.
