Should I redesign my website?

We have a very old website built with FrontPage. It really needs to be updated especially for search engines. Any pitfalls in doing this?

The biggest pitfall is that the search engines have already indexed your site, customer might have book marked it, and other sites might have links to your site. So you need to be very careful to retain the old names of these web page and either put in content or do a 301 redirect so that you do not lose all these links . Too often a web developer will redo the site with new web page names with no thought to previous links.
